Am I Forgotten By God?
When feelings run deep and dark, and we feel like our pain could never be healed, it’s in those moments we may be tempted to believe God has left us. But are we forgotten, are we truly alone? When Job suffered the pain of a lost home, lost income, lost children, lost health - was he truly forgotten by God? When the son of God hung on the cross, crying in agony, “My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me”, did the Father truly forget His son?
The feelings of being abandoned by God are real; sometimes too real for us, but the honest truth is that love never allows one to forget. God’s love is strong for His children, and although infinite wisdom may allow pain & loss for a time, it is not allowed without the promise of hope, healing, and the comfort of knowing that none of God’s children will suffer in vain.
When you feel as though God has forgotten you - remember His mercy and grace revealed to you every day, think of His promises which declare His love for you, dwell upon the gifts you do have and force your lips to utter His blessings in your life. Let your heart trust in Jesus and give your pain into His nail beaten hands. Believe that He still has a plan to give you beauty for ashes, and the oil of joy for morning. Then you will know, the Lord never forgets, and you will see that He always heals!
And you will say with David at the end of his 13th Psalm: “I have trusted in thy mercy; My heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.”
